Schemes for Rabbits

This is a collection of short stories that are deconstructed and re-presented using a flowchart format. The characters in the Scheme include, but are not limited to,  a mathematically gifted horse, some very tactical cats, a mysterious vanishing park, too many disappearing women, and a mother from a Walt Disney film. The stories are told from several distinct points of view and are based on real and imagined events, employing a variety of different genres.

The graphic treatment of each story visually maps-out the narrative construction, using lines and boxes. The resulting schema or mazes reveal how narratives—especially ones that we accept as “truth” are sometimes traps. Character are trapped inside stories where wolves eat children, rabbits are experimented on, and boys must kill their dog in order to become men. Sometimes the characters outwit the narrative construction containing them.
